Are you seeking an introduction into the skills and programs used to create animation? With advances in technology, animation is now more accessible than ever. Learn foundational techniques in 2D and Stop-Motion Animation, or expand on skills you already have. Prior animation experience is not required! You should be comfortable using a computer. The morning sessions will cover the history of animation through screenings, demonstrations of techniques and critiques. The afternoon sessions will focus on skill building through hands-on activities. Participating students will: -Learn the basics of 2D and Stop Motion Animation: *Programs and Equipment *Frame Rate *Export Settings *Timing *Art Direction for Animation -Increase their knowledge of industry standards for animation -Create and Animate a Stop Motion Puppet -Collaborate on a group animation -Learn the basics of Open Toonz, the animation software used by Studio Ghibli -Receive feedback on portfolios -Learn the history of Animation All materials will be provided, although you will be encouraged to source items from home. Educational Leader: Adrielle Farr works as the Creative Director at KXB Studio, and as the Director of Art & Cultural Affairs for the City of Kingston. KXB Studio works to provide education services, while also working as a professional animation studio. She has previously worked with The Department of Regional Art Workers and the Kingston Library to provide animation education.
