Medical, Personal Training, Grant Writing, and Bartending Courses Among Offerings

August 21, 2019 – Stone Ridge, NY – The SUNY Ulster Office of Continuing and Professional Education offers a variety of courses throughout fall 2019 for professional advancement.

NEW! Medical Administrative Assistant

This course will focus on the working flow of the front office in different healthcare settings. As a Medical Administrative Assistant in training, procedures and basic concepts from patient registration, medico-legal aspects, and health insurance to communication and writing skills will be emphasized. Upon successful course completion, students are eligible to take the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) exam offered by the National Healthcareer Association. 

Dates: 9/3/2019 – 12/19/2019

Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 

Time: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Fee: $1,350 + textbooks & exam

 

Certified Personal Trainer

Get all the important information needed to start a career as a Certified Personal Trainer. The course prepares students for the on-campus national exam. With the course, the first ten who register receive a bonus online course in Nutritional Concepts and Marketing Strategies. Students may work right after passing the exams with proof of CPR/AED to obtain Level 1 Certified Personal Trainer. Students may also take advantage of the 30-hour employer internship to get the advanced Level 2 Certified Personal Trainer credential at no additional cost. This W.I.T.S. course is NCCA Accredited. NEW! Grant Writing for Effective Non-Profit Fundraising

This course introduces students to best practices for foundation grant writing. Each student will write a grant application, including need statement, goals, step-by-step action plan, assessment, and budget documents. Students learn to write clearly and with impact. Appropriate for non-profit professionals and current students.

Time: 2:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

NEW! Fundraising Via Crowdfunding

Students learn to create effective crowdfunding campaigns using written descriptions, visuals and video, and ongoing communications. These marketable skills can be used in a range of careers. Each student will create and post a crowdfunding project. Appropriate for non-profit professionals and current students.

Bartending with Tips Training

This hands-on course presents a thorough introduction to the in-demand field of bartending. Students learn how to prepare drinks from the exotic to the ever-popular standards as well as the art of presentation, customer interactions, and the responsibilities that accompany this job. Students must be at least 18 years old to attend. TIPS Training will be Saturday, 11/16, from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Time: 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
