November 9, 2018 – Stone Ridge, NY – This fall, the SUNY Ulster Theatre Department presents a performance project titled "A Temporary Situation of Great Disorder." The performance is directed by Theatre Program Coordinator Stephen Balantzian, and performed by SUNY Ulster students. Performances run from Thursday to Saturday, November 15 - 17, at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, November 18, at 2:00 p.m. All are performed in the SUNY Ulster Quimby Theater.

"A Temporary Situation of Great Disorder" will feature a collaboration of performance, music, song, dance, lighting, and design featuring the talents of the SUNY Ulster Theatre Department. The production is a devised piece of theatre, also called "creative collaboration." Ten students created original material from monologues, choreography, scenes, and music, and the show features projection design and puppetry. The student-led show is filled with deeply personal stories with a common theme. The whole show is under 45 minutes with no intermission.

Stephen Balantzian says, "It's thrilling and challenging work, and the students have been so courageous in handling the project. I think our audience will be surprised with how deep some of the material is. We want our audiences to see something they've never seen before, and they will with this original piece.""

SUNY Ulster Theatre students present several full-scale theatrical productions during the year. Theatre productions at SUNY Ulster are open to all students, regardless of their programs of study. They also present original programs of Reader's Theater in December and May. In addition, both student and professional touring groups are invited to the campus.

Tickets are $10 at the door and free for SUNY Ulster students. No reservation is required. For more information about "A Temporary Situation of Great Disorder," call the Quimby Theatre at the SUNY Ulster box office (845) 688-1959.
