SUNY Ulster Offering Fall 2018 Courses in Watercolor and Journaling at Vineyard Commons in Highland

August 22, 2018 – Stone Ridge, NY – This fall, SUNY Ulster’s Office of Continuing & Professional Education is offering classes in watercolor techniques and journaling at Vineyard Commons, located at 300 Vineyard Avenue in Highland.

WATERCOLOR, PEN & INK

This class utilizes the creative art techniques of ink and watercolor by using ink washes, splattering, cross-hatching, and masking. Participants will learn design, composition, and color with still life projects or personal photographs. Each class includes a technique demonstration and individualized guidance. Classes are held Wednesdays, 10/10 - 11/14, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. The cost for this class is $199.

JOURNALING YOUR PAST

This class for both experienced and beginning journal writers will help participants navigate their way to a journal that expresses who they are and where they are headed. Participants should bring a notebook, loose-leaf paper, a ringed binder, and a pencil or pen. Classes are held Thursdays, 9/6 - 10/25, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The cost for this class is $169.

WHAT’S YOUR STORY

Participants use excerpts from I Remember by Joe Brainard to rediscover and document their memories. Using lists and studies of character, scene, and motivation, participants expand on factual and sensory details, developing each piece into a work that can capture the interest of both writer and reader. Classes are held Thursdays, 11/1 - 12/20, and Tuesday, 11/20, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The cost for this class is $169.
