Learn the basics of hand-tooling leather by drawing a design, transferring the design onto the leather, and then carving the design into the leather. Jay Teske of Jay Teske Leather Co. will teach participants how to correctly use their new tools. He will provide an overview of shading techniques and guide participants in applying pressure to create the desired effect. In addition to the leather cuff that they create in class, participants will go home with a basic leather tooling kit. Materials/Kit fee: $80, payable in class to instructor. About Instructor: With a passion for vintage and antique motorcycles, instructor Jay Teske found his way into custom motorcycle seat upholstery and founded Pirate Upholstery in 2006. Over the past decade, Jay has developed a following among motorcyclists for handcrafting premium, bespoke leather motorcycle seats and bags. His work has been seen on the Discovery Channel, American Choppers; and most recently at the 2015 World Wrestling Entertainment championship, for which he was commissioned to construct the title belt. In 2014, Jay and his wife, Hadas Liebermann, launched Jay Teske Leather Co. to bring Teskes craftsmanship to a wider clientele. Jay Teske Leather Co, 25 Broadway, Kingston 12401, www.jayteske.com
