Learn drone flight basics and gain the knowledge needed to pass the FAA Part 107 UAV Test. This course is designed the rules commercial and hobbyist use. In addition to learning basic operation and flight functions for todays best and most widely used drones, students will learn the FAA rules and regulations regarding UAV flight, flight chart reading, air traffic communication, aviation weather, flight restrictions, drone safety protocols, risk management, and more. Classes will be divided between flight and traditional classroom instruction. DronePix, the facilitator of the course, will have a limited number of drones available to loan students who do not have their own. Depending on course enrollment and students needing loaner UAVs, flight time may be limited. Students will be taught using DJI Spark and Mavic Pro drones. Students are encouraged to bring and use their own UAV if it fits within the specifications: it must have the ability to fly outdoors and have established GPS stabilization to satellite capabilities. All Drones are required to have propeller guards and have two batteries which will allow flight for a minimum of 30 minutes. After registering for the course all students will be sent a short questionnaire to help evaluate their level of drone experience. *Course does not include FAA Part 107 Exam, which is only administered by the FAA. Having a drone is NOT required.
