This camp offers a fun and creative introduction to coding through video game design. This camp appeals to campers with an interest in technology, digital arts, video game design, and programming. Students learn how to plan the graphical user interface, gameplay, and mechanics of the game using concept art and storyboarding. Using SCRATCH, a popular program for creating interactive and animated projects, campers make their storyboards come alive as a complete working game that everyone can play! Please bring a flash drive. DR. CYNTHIA V. MARCELLO is a professor of Computer Science. She teaches numerous programming courses and also simulation and game development. She owned a computer consulting business for twenty years and currently is the owner of Ideation Studios, LLC, an independent game design and development company. Throughout the academic year, she runs numerous game jam and hackathon events, interactive fiction competitions, computer science and robotics camps, 4H STEM workshops, and is also an event partner for VEX robotics competitions and tournaments. Lastly, she is the President of the NY Hudson Valley Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) and thoroughly enjoys working with students and teachers in the area of computer science and all things technology!
