SUNY Ulster Offers Driver Education Courses in Kingston and New Paltz July 1 – August 16


June 5, 2019 – Stone Ridge, NY – The SUNY Ulster Office of Continuing and Professional Education will offer driver education training courses in Kingston and New Paltz from July 1 – August 16. These classes are open to the public and require preregistration.

The driver training course is approved by the NYS Education Department Traffic Safety Unit and the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. The 48-hour course includes 24 hours of in-car instruction, including 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction and 18 hours of in-car observation, as well as 24 hours of classroom instruction. Classroom and driving instruction will be held on alternating days. Approximately six weeks after course completion, students will receive a certificate which may allow a reduction in their insurance. This program is administered in cooperation with an area auto school.

One course will be held at the Kingston Center of SUNY Ulster, 94 Mary’s Avenue in Kingston, and the other will be held at New Paltz High School, 130 South Putt Corners Road. Both classes will be held 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. Monday – Friday, from July 1 – August 16, with no class on July 4. August 17 and 18 may be used as make-up days. Orientation for the course at the Kingston Center of SUNY Ulster is on June 17, and the orientation for the course at New Paltz High School is on June 18.
