SUNY Ulster Offers Variety of Youth Summer Camps this June – August

May 15, 2019 – Stone Ridge, NY – The SUNY Ulster Office of Continuing and Professional Education is offering a variety of summer camp classes for local youth at the Stone Ridge campus throughout June, July, and August.

 

Junior Tennis Academy

Ages 8-16: Enjoy an educational and fun tennis experience suitable for all skill levels. Morning instruction includes the teaching of strong tennis stokes and precision footwork. In the afternoon, athletes are taught strategy, technique, and sportsmanship by means of challenging games and matches. Educational Leader: Peter Fein, longtime Ulster County tennis instructor.

Dates: 6/24/2019 – 6/28/2019

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Fee: $350

 

Start a Snow Cone Business Camp

Ages 8-12: Do you want to own your own business one day? In this Entrepreneurship boot camp, we will plan and run a snow cone business. We will come up with our business name, find out what flavors are people’s favorites, what we should charge for our Snow Cones and how to market our business. Then we will kick it off and run our business on the SUNY Ulster campus! Afterwards, we will talk about our profit, what worked and what we could have done differently to make our business even better. Educational Leader: Dr. Mindy Kole, Associate Dean, Assistant Professor of Business, and Entrepreneur at SUNY Ulster.

3D Printing Camp

Ages 11-18: Experience 3D printing using Makerbot printers and learn about Makerbot printer operation and maintenance. You will learn the basics of 3D printing using the solid modeling software Inventor Professional 2018. Educational Leader: Salvatore Ligotino, SUNY Ulster Assistant Professor of the STEM Department.

Dates: 7/8/2019 - 7/12/2019

Days: Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri

Time: 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Fee: $200

 

Revit Architecture Camp

Ages 13-18: Participants will learn the basics to produce 3D virtual buildings in this architectural based camp. This camp is perfect for anyone interested in the field of Architecture. Educational Leader: Salvatore Ligotino, SUNY Ulster Assistant Professor of the STEM Department.

Time: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Fee: $200

 

Fashion Design Printmaking Camps

Ages 8-11; 12-15: In these camps, you will learn how to create unique, one of a kind fashion pieces using various printmaking and design techniques. Students will then learn or advance their sewing skills while creating a project with their printed fabric in a fully equipped sewing lab. No previous knowledge of sewing or printmaking is required. Educational Leader: Calista Allen, SUNY Ulster Fashion Program alumna and current designer for Karina Dresses.

Dates: 7/15/2019 - 7/19/2019

Days: Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Fee: $350 + Materials fee of $15, payable in camp on the first day.

 

Figure Drawing/Painting Academy

Ages 11-17: Working daily with a model, beginners and those wanting to develop or strengthen their figure drawing and painting skills will learn life drawing and painting through an investigation of foundation/skill building principles, form construction, and anatomy to build a portfolio. Educational Leader: Christopher Seubert, SUNY Ulster instructor and local artist, assisted by SUNY Ulster Fine Art students.

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Printmaking Academy

Ages 11-17: Are you interested in developing or strengthening your foundation drawing and printmaking skills? You will have the opportunity to explore monoprinting, block printing, and etching as well as create a portfolio of work highlighting skills developed in this boot camp. Educational Leader: Christopher Seubert, SUNY Ulster instructor and local artist, assisted by SUNY Ulster Fine Art students.

Dates: 7/22/2019 - 7/26/2019

Days: Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Fee: $350 + Materials fee of $15, payable in camp on the first day.
