SUNY Ulster Offers Beginner Sewing Workshops this June
May 10, 2018 - Stone Ridge, NY - SUNY Ulster Continuing and Professional Education will offer a set of sewing workshops designed for beginners in June. The classes will be held at the Stone ridge Campus
Beginner Sewing Workshop
In this class, students learn how to use the sewing machine, terms, tools, layout, cutting, patternmaking, pressing techniques, zipper and hem applications, hand sewing techniques, and stitch samples. Each student creates one finished skirt as a final project, made to dress form size, in any choice of fabric.

Basic Sewing Workshop
Learn how to work a sewing machine, basic sewing terms, patternmaking, and fabric cutting techniques. Complete several sewing samples and a tote bag. Students will be able to take home a finished product and the tote bag pattern they complete in class to use again. Student-provided materials, which are needed for the first class, include a mechanical pencil/ lead, a large eraser, one yard of lightweight muslin, and one yard of 100% cotton fabric for the tote bag (solid color or printed). Students can optionally bring snacks and drinks.
