Courses to Prepare Pilots for the Remote Pilot Knowledge Test

Registration is now open for two free information sessions and four specialized courses through SUNY Ulster’s Office of Continuing and Professional Education in the growing field of drone/SUAS (small unmanned aircraft system) operation. The courses are intended to prepare pilots for the Remote Pilot Knowledge Test, which is required by the Federal Aviation Agency to ensure pilots are within regulations and legally operating for commercial use. Classes are held at both the Stone Ridge Campus and at the Kingston Center.

LEARN ALL ABOUT DRONE APPLICATIONS

Attend one of SUNY Ulster’s free information sessions on this exciting new technology now available for commercial Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Remote Pilot Certification. This is your opportunity to ask questions. Registration is required.

DRONE APPLICATIONS INFO SESSION
Join Nancy Rafter, CEO of DronePix, to learn about the exciting new drone technology now available that can enhance your present job or can be the start of a new career. Learn how drones are being used and the different jobs that are using them. She will talk about the course being offered in March and show you some of the DJI Drones to be used in class which are the UAV’s specialized for professional use.

LEARN ABOUT DRONE USE INFO SESSION

Join Instructor Roger Uvyn to learn how drone use is changing the economy and creating new jobs. There will be a short flight demonstration.

NEW! DRONES FOR ENGINEERS
This introductory course presents en¬gineering applications of data gathering, as well as surveying, construction monitoring, bridge, and infrastructure inspection. The course will also cover the basics of drone flying and video editing, plus FAA rules and privacy concerns. A drone will be demonstrated, but not flown in the classroom. This course offers 6.5 PDHs to professional engineers. Instructor: P. Tavino Jr. P.E.

NEW! LEARNING TO FLY DRONES | FAA PART 107 TEST PREP
In this course, students will learn drone flight basics and gain the knowledge needed to pass the FAA Part 107 UAV Test as well as the FAA rules and regulations regarding UAV flight, flight chart reading, air traffic com¬munication, aviation weather, flight restrictions, drone safety protocols, risk management, and more. Classes will be divided between flight and traditional classroom instruction. DronePix, the facilitator of the course, will have a limited number of drones available to loan to students who do not have their own. Students will be taught using DJI Spark and Mavic Pro drones.

INTRO TO SUAS /LEARN TO FLY
If you are new to drone piloting, this 12-hour course will give you all the vital skills and information you need to start piloting drones safely and legally. This comprehensive course is designed to provide thorough instruction on drone systems, use applications, legal issues, maintenance, and FAA regulations, in addition to piloting skills and safety best practices. The course fee includes a quadcopter with a cam¬era, computer flight simulator, and workbook.

INTRO TO SUAS /LEARN TO FLY | REMOTE PILOT KNOWLEDGE TEST PREP
To legally operate a drone for any business purpose, FAA regulations now require remote pilot certification. This course prepares you to successfully pass the comprehensive FAA knowledge test. Topics covered include reg¬ulations, airspace, weather, loading and performance, and operations. The course fee includes a workbook, 50 FAA sample test questions, and six hours of instruction. Certification testing must be administered at an autho-rized FAA Knowledge Testing Center and is NOT included in the course fee.
