Training Program Prepares Students for Careers

In Water & Wastewater Industries

SUNY Ulster’s Wastewater Treatment Operator training program, scheduled to start January 18, prepares students for entry level employment in the public water supply or wastewater treatment industries as well as qualifying attendees for job advancement within those industries.

Students in the Wastewater Treatment Operator Program complete their pre-certification training in 6 months with classes conveniently scheduled in the evening for working adults. Approved by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, courses include Basic Wastewater Lecture Course, Basic Laboratory and Activated Sludge. A math review is also available and recommended. Training focuses on developing new and existing water operators with the knowledge and skills required to operate and maintain a water treatment facility. Participants gain valuable information to enhance their operational skills, making them more effective at their jobs and preparing them for the New York State Water Treatment Certification.

Classes run from January 18 until June 19, and meet from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Basic Wastewater Lecture meets at the Kingston Center of SUNY Ulster, all other courses are scheduled at the Stone Ridge Campus.
