SUNY Ulster Offering New Hospitality Courses this Fall

Offered by Office of Continuing & Professional Education

Students and members of the community interested in the hospitality industry can now sign up for restaurant management courses offered through SUNY Ulster’s Office of Continuing & Professional Education. These noncredit courses cover aspects of owning and managing a restaurant such as controlling costs, building customer and community relationships, customer service training, and harnessing internet marketing strategies. The class instructor is Janet Irizarry, co-founder of HudsonValleyEATS.com and contributing columnist for Food, Wine & Spirits at the Hudson Valley News Network. All classes meet at the Kingston Center, 94 Mary’s Avenue, Kingston.

NEW! PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING FOR RESTAURANT MANAGERS
The performance of a restaurant manager is key to running a successful restaurant. This series of classes will focus on the main areas of management responsibilities and teach strategies to improve the flow of operations and increase profitability. The series includes:

CONTROLLING COSTS on Thursday, September 21. Class meets from 9 -11 am. Course fee is $35.

SALES & CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING on Thursday, October 5. Class meets from 9-11am. Course fee is $35.

BEST PRACTICES OF HIRING & BUILDING YOUR DREAM TEAM on Thursday, October 19. Class meets from 9-11am. Course fee is $35.

If students are interested, they can take the RESTAURANT SERIES PACKAGE Thursday, September 21, October 5 & October 19. Classes meet from 9-11am. Course fee is $75.

INCREASING SALES BY BUILDING STRONG CUSTOMER & COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS
This class will teach you how to develop relationships that transform into recurring revenue. Class meets from 9-11am on Thursday, 10/12. Course fee is $35.

BUILDING YOUR RESTAURANT BUSINESS IN A DIGITAL WORLD
This course will teach you how to leverage the power of the internet with your website, social media and email marketing. Class meets from 9-11am on Thursday, 9/28. Course fee is $35.
