The Driver Education class will be held at the following high schools: Kingston, Rondout Valley, New Paltz, Wallkill, Highland, Onteora, Marlboro, and Saugerties. Class orientations take place during the week of September 18, and class begins the following week. In addition to the classroom, students are assigned a drive time that is determined at the orientation.

The 5-Hour Pre-licensing Class covers the effects of alcohol and drugs on driving perception and highlights defensive driving techniques. Upon completion, students will be issued a certificate required for taking the road test. The class meets the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles classroom requirement in driver safety education. The course will be offered at the Kingston Center (KSU) on Saturday, September 16 and Saturday, October 28, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The course fee is $45.

The Defensive Driving Class is designed to help prevent and avoid accidents through techniques developed by the National Safety Council and approved by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. Participants in the 6-hour class can save 10 percent on their auto liability, no-fault, and collision insurance premiums for three years. Classes are scheduled for Saturday, September 9, at the Kingston Center, 94 Mary’s Avenue from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and at the Stone Ridge Campus on Saturday, October 14, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The course fee is $50.
