SUNY Ulster Athletes Prove Strong in Academics

Seven student-athletes recognized by the NJCAA

SUNY Ulster announces that seven student athletes received NJCAA Academic All American status for the 2016-2017 academic year for their extraordinary success.

Women’s Volleyball player, Delaney Malak (Rondout Valley HS) led all student athletes with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Other student athletes recognized by the NJCAA were; Misael Villa (M. Soccer, Kingston HS), Erica Prindle, Kingston HS and Katelynn Slater, Wawarsing Christian Academy HS (W. Volleyball), Keith Kortright (Cross Country, Rondout Valley HS), Mohammed Khan (Wrestling, New Paltz HS), and Nicholas Fulford (Baseball, Onteora HS).

The SUNY Ulster Athletic Department implemented a mandatory study hall two seasons ago and increased progress reporting which has resulted in significant academic improvements.

“We believe in the complete student athlete here at SUNY Ulster. Those who prove they not only can excel on the playing field, but in the classroom as well, will become leaders in our community,” said SUNY Ulster Director of Athletics Matt Brennie.
