Announces Lorine Pendleton, Angel Investor, as Keynote Speaker
June 1st at SUNY Ulster
Own It! Women’s Conference hosted by SUNY Ulster announces its keynote speaker for the June 1st, 2017 event as Lorine Pendleton, an active angel investor who backs and advises women and minority-led companies.
Named by Marie Claire magazine as one of the “50 Most Connected Women in America,” Ms. Pendleton will tell her story as an angel investor and speak about how women can differentiate their businesses through technology and other advances to be best positioned to obtain financing for their business.
Most recently, Ms. Pendleton has appeared as a guest judge on the BET Network/Centric TV’s Queen Boss pitch competition show where African-American female entrepreneurs compete for a grand prize to fund their businesses.
Her portfolio includes Cisse Trading, Traklight, Hire an Esquire, Nextwave Rising Tide Fund, and Tastemakers Africa. She is an alumna of Pipeline Angels, an angel investing training program for women to increase diversity in the US angel investing community. Precious stints include working at numerous startups including SelectMinds, developer of web based social network programs for corporations acquires by Oracle; and Community Connect, publisher of the learning ethnic social networking websites BlackPlanet, AsianAvenue, and MiGente, acquired by Interactive One.

Entrepreneurial Women’s Conference is to provide actionable information and advice from regional experts in a variety of key business topics, as well as a day of networking, camaraderie, and relationship building. Lorine’s practical and inspirational talk will be a perfect kick off for the conference.”
The third annual OwnIt! Entrepreneurial Women’s Conference, is once again sponsored by the Darlene L. Pfeiffer Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at SUNY Ulster; the Ulster Community College Foundation, Inc., and the Mid-Hudson Small Business Development Center. Over 100 small business owners and entrepreneur’s attended each of the past two OwnIt! Entrepreneurial Women’s Conferences, with more attendees expected this year. The theme of this year’s one day OwnIt! Entrepreneurial Women’s Conference is Ready, Start, Grow. This year’s event will serve both small business owners ready to grow their businesses, as well as start-up entrepreneurs. For the first time Own It! will feature two tracks of workshops for these two audiences.
