Nichola Harris Ph.D. chairs a panel and presents a paper at the 89th annual meeting for the American Association for the History of Medicine.

Nichola Harris Ph.D. Associate Professor of European History and Coordinator of History and Political Science at SUNY Ulster chaired a panel entitled Global Connections in the History of Pre-Modern Pharmacology at the 89th annual meeting for the American Association for the History of Medicine held in Minneapolis on April 28th to May 1st. As part of this panel, she presented a paper based on her original research entitled Early Modern Medical Consumerism and the ‘Secret’ Lapidary of Nicholas Culpeper. This paper examines the intellectual and cultural shift in the medical marketplace of 17th century London through an analysis of Culpeper’s School of Physick (1659), attributed to the popularly esteemed English herbalist, physician and astrologer Nicholas Culpeper.
