Visiting Artist Grace Wapner
October 9 – November 7, 2014
Slide Lecture and Opening Reception
Thursday October 9, 7:00 p.m.

Grace Wapner returns to campus to show new work that uses a collage format that explores how blocks of color and form can be placed to imply three-dimensionality and create spare, textured, yet detailed art. “Its minimalism asks us to look hard and fall into the color and materiality of what might be termed ‘flat sculpture,’”states the artist.
Wapner has had a long and illustrious career as an artist and has received numerous awards, including a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Sculpture. She has exhibited her work extensively in museums and galleries throughout the nation.
Wapner served as SUNY Ulster’s second ever Visiting Artist in 2000, and has lectured at SUNY Ulster.
