SUNY Ulster Presents Workshop with Professional Actor Lucas Papaelias
As part of its
Visiting Artists program, SUNY Ulster will present a workshop and feedback session with professional actor and musician Lucas Papaelias on Oct. 6, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m., in Quimby Theater.
Aspiring musicians and actors will have the opportunity to prepare a musical selection of their choice (with instrument) or monologue for feedback in this intimate setting. A graduate of SUNY Geneseo, Lucas will answer questions about the realities of being a professional actor/musician from both the logistical and emotional perspective.
“At the highest professional level in any field, the key to success and progress over time becomes less about skills, and more about keeping a positive attitude and being able to foster productive relationships,” he says.
Papaelias will share helpful tips about pursuing a career as a performing artist and emotional aspects that can be applied to theater, music or other careers.
An original cast member of Once the Musical, Papaelias also has appeared onstage in Kevin Kline’s CYRANO and has composed original music. Papaelias received a Drama Desk nomination for Essential Self-Defense at Playwrights Horizons. He has appeared onscreen in School Of Rock, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Blue Bloods, Law & Order, Submissions Only, and, most recently, on the Cinemax series The Knick. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Stephen Balantzian, firstname.lastname@example.org.
